Dathliad o Gerddoriaeth Delyn y Sipsiwn Cymreig
A Celebration of Welsh Gypsy Harping

Amodau ac Anghenion:

Disgwylir i bawb sy'n cymryd rhan feddu ar ei delyn/ei thelyn ei hun i'w defnyddio yn ystod y brosiect, a honno i fod naill ai yn:
Delyn Deires Gymreig,
Delyn fach/Geltaidd,
Hen delyn bedal (ee: Erard Grecian/Gothic, neu gyffelyb)
Delyn bedal fach (ee: Salvi Daphne 40 – ond nid Daphne 47/47S, etc.)

O ran naill ai maint, sain, neu olwg, ni fydd y mathau isod o delyn yn addas:
Telyn bedal fawr, gerddorfaol, fodern
Telyn fach electronig (a glymir i'r corff)
Telyn wrachïod
Telyn tannau metal
Telynau o America Ladin

Dylai pob telyn fod â chwmpas Cˌ – Gˈˈ o leiaf (tua 3 wythawd a hanner)

Dylid medru ei thiwnio i C-fwyaf (A-440), a'i chanu'n argyhoeddiadol yn y cyweirnod hwnnw, (hy: os ydych fel arfer yn cyweirio'ch telyn i Eb, rhaid sicrhau bod llafnau neu bedalau'r delyn yn gweithredu'n iawn fel bod y delyn yn swnio'n iawn yn C-fwyaf wrth chwarae)

Anelir yr hyfforddi at chwaraewyr o safon Gradd 3 o leiaf, ond byddwn yn ystyried cynnwys chwaraewyr o lefel is, os ydynt â gwir ddiddordeb a bod eu hathrawon yn gytûn eu bod yn ddisgyblion digon galluog ac addawol, ac y byddant yn elwa ar y profiad.

Sylwer: Nid yw'r brosiect wedi anelu at ddechreuwyr neu at chwaraewyr elfennol.

Disgwylir i bawb sy'n cymryd rhan:

fedru tiwnio ei delyn/ei thelyn ei hun (gyda chymorth peiriant os dymunir)

fod yn barod i geisio dysgu ‘wrth-y-glust', ac nid i ddibynnu ar nodiant ar bapur yn unig

ymroi i ddysgu'r darnau a'u hymarfer, a medru eu perfformio heb gopi, gan gadw mewn cof y nod o'u perfformio yn 2016 fel rhan o ensemble. (Nid yw hyn o reidrwydd yn golygu y bydd rhaid i bob un hyfforddai gymryd rhan yn y perfformiadau terfynol hyn, ond iddynt barchu mai dyma yw nod y cynllun.)

Conditions and Requirements:

Each participant must have his/her own harp to use during the project, and that should be one of the following:
Welsh Triple harp
Celtic/Lever harp
Old Pedal harp (e.g.: Erard Grecian/Gothic, or similar)
Small Pedal harp (e.g.: Salvi Daphne 40 – but not Daphne 47/47S, etc.)

As regards either size, sound, or image, the following harps will not be suitable:

Large modern orchestral/concert Pedal harp
Small electronic harp (strapped to the body)
Bray harp
Wire-strung harp
Latin American harps

All harps used must have a range of at least Cˌ – Gˈˈ (about 3 and a half octaves)

All harps must be tuneable to C-major (A-440), and must be convincingly playable in that key (i.e.: if you normally tune to Eb, the levers or pedals must work properly so that the harp sounds all right playing in C-major)

The teaching will be aimed at players of at least Grade 3 level, but we will consider including players of a lower level, if they are sincerely interested, and if their teachers will confirm that they are sufficiently promising and able, and likely to profit from the experience.

NB: The project is not aimed at beginners or players of an elementary level.

Each participant will be expected:

to be able to tune his/her own harp (with the help of an electronic tuner if needed)

to be willing to try learning ‘by-ear’, and not depend on written notation

to learn and practise the tunes, and be able to play them without copies, bearing in mind the aim of performing them in ensemble in 2016. (This does not mean that every participant must take part in those performances, but they must respect that this is the eventual goal of the project.)
